Central Govt Employees: The Ministry of Finance has approved a Non-Productivity Linked Bonus for the year 2024-25. This is great news for lakhs of central government employees. The bonus will be equal to 30 days’ salary and will be given to Group C, non-gazetted Group B staff, armed forces personnel, and eligible employees in Union Territories.
This announcement brings happiness during the festive season as the government has decided to reward its employees for their service and dedication.
Ad-hoc Bonus Announcement
The Finance Ministry has issued an order confirming that all Group C and non-gazetted Group B employees will receive an “Ad-hoc Bonus” for the year 2024-25. The bonus will be equal to 30 days’ salary, and the amount has been fixed at Rs 6,908.
Employees who are in service as of March 31, 2025, will get the bonus. Those who have worked for at least six months continuously will also be eligible. If any employee has worked for less than a year, their bonus will be given based on the number of months they worked, which means it will be on a pro-rata basis.
Eligibility for Bonus
According to the Finance Ministry, this Non-Productivity Linked Bonus is approved by the President for all Central Government employees in Group C and non-gazetted Group B who are not covered under any other Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme.
This benefit will also include eligible employees from paramilitary forces, armed forces, and Union Territories. Those who are working under the central pay structure and do not get any other bonus or ex-gratia payment will also be covered.
Ad-hoc employees are also eligible, provided there are no breaks in their service during the year.
Casual labourers who have worked for a certain number of days in the last three years will also receive the bonus. The bonus for such casual workers has been fixed at Rs 1,184.
Bonus Calculation Method
The calculation of the bonus will be based on a maximum monthly salary of Rs 7,000. The formula used to calculate the bonus is very simple.
Calculation Formula | Example |
7,000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 | Rs 6,907.89 (rounded to Rs 6,908) |
So, the final amount of Rs 6,908 is what each eligible employee will receive for the 30-day bonus period.
Important Conditions for Bonus
Only those employees who remain in service till March 31, 2025, will be eligible to receive the bonus. Employees who retired, resigned, or passed away before this date will also get the bonus if they have completed at least six months of regular service during the year.
For employees who are on deputation to other organizations, the bonus will be paid by the organization where they are currently working.
The amount of the bonus will always be rounded off to the nearest rupee. This decision will directly benefit millions of central government employees and personnel from security forces.
Why This Bonus Matters
This decision by the Modi government has come as a festive gift for government workers. With rising expenses and the festive season ahead, this extra financial help will bring some comfort and happiness to many families.
It also shows the government’s appreciation for the hard work and contribution of its employees in maintaining smooth administration across the country.
Many employees and defence personnel are grateful for this timely decision, which will make the upcoming festive celebrations more cheerful and relaxed.
Conclusion
The Non-Productivity Linked Bonus for the year 2024-25 is a wonderful initiative to recognize the efforts of government employees. With Rs 6,908 as a 30-day bonus, lakhs of central staff and armed forces personnel will enjoy the festive season with extra joy.
